I Would Describe Myself As
I'm a good listener, and can laugh with you and at myself, preferably while hiking, going on adventures together, or lingering over wine or coffee in candlelight at an outdoor cafe.
I would like to find someone bright, active, witty, and well-educated, generally in my generation, with a compatible world view, with whom to share the adventures of this stage of life. If your education and life experience has been narrowly constricted, we may not be a match.
Of course, chemistry is the intangible that can scarcely be guessed from a profile. Being a guy, I'm visual so that is a superficial factor I won't deny. It is best to develop a strong friendship first so I won't rush you. The best is yet to be.
There is a world to be explored, thousands of good books to be read and shared, and countless adventures to be enjoyed. My preference in travel is to explore independently rather than with a tour group, except where a tour is the only way to get access to an area. If you are unwilling to travel other than on a bus full of aging Americans, we may not be a match.
While not a judgmental fundamentalist, I'm active in the church where I've been almost every Sunday I've been in town for 36 years.
I was blessed with a rock solid 34-year marriage until "death did us part." Eighteen months later, it's time to move forward. I don't judge those whose experience with marriage was not as positive, but if you've been blithely divorced 3 or 4 times, we aren't a match.
I'm still working full-time in my law practice but have become much more selective about the cases I accept.
After four decades years laboring in the law, I hope to find a good point to change gears in the next couple of years, not to quit completely but to have more time for travel and other interests.
I grew up a country boy but have lived inside Atlanta's perimeter 37 of the past 45 years.
I have eclectic and minimally cultivated taste in art and music. In my work travel, I've often done a two hour sprint through a major art museum before catching my flight home. Whenever possible, I like to take in Jazzfest in New Orleans. My ignorant appreciation of music is broad -- classical to bluegrass, rock to country, reggae to gospel -- but don't ask me to sit through a rap concert.
Weekends? My preference would be to venture out a lot, taking advantage of all our region has to offer - hiking, biking, kayaking and serendipitously exploring with a good companion. That has not been my reality much of late but I would welcome it.
Probably no one my age is without baggage, but mine is light. I have no significant medical issues though I do have to stretch more than in the past when I get up in the morning. My two kids are grown, on their own, and happily married. I hear from both every day or two.
