I Would Describe Myself As

I am a single mom of two absolutely beautiful girls who are the center of my world. I am not slim and trim, but am not ashamed in the LEAST of my appearance (in fact, I think I look fabulous!! ha ha!)...if skinny is your thing, please move on and don't waste my time or yours. I'm a white woman with black woman's body. The man I'm looking for should be someone who doesn't mind pampering a woman from time to time (and doesn't need any particular reason to do so), but that also recognizes that everyone needs time to themselves too. He MUST value family and be cognizant of the fact that my my children's needs will ALWAYS take precedent over his (so he will always be second and often third when you read on and that MUST be okay). I must insist that he be a non-smoker...very unattractive in my opinion! He should also have the ability to laugh at himself when he should. There's nothing worse than a person who takes himself too seriously. Life is too short! I like for life to be simple (well...as simple as it can be) and am not terribly focused on material things. In fact I think we often focus TOO much on "stuff" and need to get away from that...I have an incurable, degenerative, genetic disease called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS)/Vascular Type and Hypermobile type which causes me to have pain all over my entire body 24/7. It affects the collagen in the cells of all of the connective tissue, and the veins and arteries in my entire and causes pain every single day of my life. It leads to other diseases and conditions as well. Since my diagnosis, I have also been diagnosed with Intra cranial Hypertension which causes a severe increase in intra cranial pressure, causing headaches that are FAR worse than any migraine I have EVER had. I have had at least the equivalent of a migraine every day for the past 4 years solid. I had a tethered spinal chord that they corrected (I hadn't entirely felt my legs in decades, it's weird now that I can), but it looks like I may have developed another will and the neuropathy (numbness and tingling) in my limbs, back and face have returned. It has also caused Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome (POTS, for short), a heart condition which that is a type of dysautonomia (a syndrome affecting the autonomic nervous system) which causes your body to be unable to retain sodium. This leads to heart rhythm problems which can cause a-fib or v-fib. It causes an abrupt jump in heart rate when going from laying to sitting/standing up positions. I had extremely severe asthma (requiring frequent hospitalizations, and a host of other problems that occur in cluster with EDS (all of these things are caused by EDS), but that has been upgraded to COPD. It affects my entire body every single day. It causes excruciating pain most days and tremoring all over my body (this improved since my surgery and with some meds but still happens quite a bit and is getting worse again). There is no cure and the only "treatment" is polypharmacy (giving a medicine for each symptom....I'm gonna be back up to 24 when I fill the two he gave me today) and surgeries that are only designed to improve the patient's quality of life. The surgeries DON'T cure anything forever and what ever they are correcting can ALWAYS recur. At this point, I have to walk with a cane/rolling walker for support when I need to stop, and even with that I have an extremely hard time standing for more than a minute or so and I'm not allowed to even sit/stand up for longer than about 6-8 hrs per day. I wear a hard neck brace and back brace. I choose to try to work toward positive things those. Keep a smile on my face no matter HOW I feel (at least TRY anyway) and help others who have the same cluster of disorders keep their chins up and keep a positive attitude.
