My Self-Summary
I'm a confident, self-deprecating guy, who's witty, demands banter and tries to be an all-round good egg to people. I have a sometimes superficial interest in many, many things.
I’m 6ft tall with blue eyes. Fairly slim.
I’m looking for...? Hmmm, who knows. Let's see what turns up.
What I’m doing with my life
Living and working in London doing cultural/frivolous things.
I live in a delightfully multi-cultural area in a neglected part on the edge of zone 1. Been here 10 years now (from the North originally) and I love showing tourists and friends around my favourite little spots, and finding out theirs too.
I’m really good at
getting roused about stuff but happily letting go. Most things are ultimately amusing.
The first things people usually notice about me
My beardy face.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
All foods of the world as long as the quality is reasonable. Not too spicy though ...I'm British and used to all forms of bland.
I don't like all types of music. My taste is not especially eclectic. I like some great stuff and some bad stuff. And some tremendous shite. What I've been enjoying of late: PAVEMENT Midlake, VV Brown, Alaska in Winter, Dresden Dolls, Amanda Palmer, Arcade Fire, Johnny Cash (in fact a general fondness for old country), Belle and Sebastian
One of my favourite songs is Wichita Lineman.
Books/authors: George Orwell (recently met his nephew who runs a bed & breakfast in the Lake District - a great honour. This chap saved an ill Georgie from a whirlpool and if he hadn't then, well no Nineteen Eighty-Four!), Tibor Fischer (but he keeps getting worse, don't ruin my memories), Julian Barnes, Nicholson Baker, Margaret Atwood, Carol Shields, Michel Houellebeqc, Cormac McCarthy, Annie Proulx
Popular science/history/general debunking - eg Ben Goldacre, Richard Dawkins, Fergus Fleming.
Unlike the vast majority of my heartless friends I love natural history and will probably cry a little when David Attenborough dies.
RADIO 4! Women's Hour, The News Quiz, From Our Own Correspondent.
The theatre. Particularly fringe stuff. It's great to be up close and London has such a lot of choice.
Finally, message me if you see anything you like. Or even dislike. I don’t mind!
